Who I am

Childhood Cancer Survivor

"To try and fail is to at least learn; to fail to try is to suffer the inestimable loss of what might have been." ~Chester Barnard

Diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma in 1978 with little to no chance at survival, my parents enrolled me onto a clinical trial 42 years ago.
My parents did not fail to try and look at all we gained: a lifetime!

Heart Recipient

My heart died on 4/21/08 at the hands of the very chemotherapy and radiation that saved my life and a heart gifted to me was seated in its place.
Heart transplant as a young adult has given me great insight into the hearts of young adults with cancer re: everything from social isolation to the uncertainty of future.

Trailblazer

"Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

As long as there is life and breath within me, I will continue to be a trailblazer for those young adult survivors who will certainly come behind me.

Until hearts no longer fail...
